I just want to speak on what I read from this book. I saw that the cover looked good and I’ve never seen eggs cooked this way before so I bought the book based off of the look of the cover. (Cool cover)On the Insides of the book i like how it givers various reasons why cast iron cooking is a better form of cooking: enhances the more you use it, cultivates heat, safer than the modern cookware and no need for lots of oil in this pan. It also tells you the difference between a seasoned pan and one that is not. And I also learned that this type of pan that you can be used in the oven, on the stove top or on the grill. (I was kind of impressed with that)As far as cooking, The book let you know of the different foods that are cooked best in a cast iron skillet and also what not to cook in this pan. I do like the illustrations throughout the book, especially the ones that start off the different food sections. I downloaded the marinade sheets that gives different marinade recipes for meats and vegetables, along with there conversion charts that convert measurements of volumes, weights and temperatures. And last something else I thought was cool was the recipe notes section to keep a log of recipes that I make.
The simple fact that I got this cookbook is a good sign that I’m going to be using my cast-iron skillet a little bit more often! I like the fact that the book has a little more offer than just ordinary recipes like some of the other cast iron books that I have seen online.There are a lot of different category sections that I am looking forward to preparing food with as well. I just love the creativity the author puts into these names and recipes. This was another reason I got the book and these include really catchy named sections like Best Beef, Pulsating Poultry, Fantastic Fish, Perfected Pork, Very Vegetarian, Succulent Sides, Bringing Home Breakfast and Delicious Desserts.All in all the book has many various charts to use, as well as a marinade section and a step by step guide in the front of the book with everything from what to and not to cook in my cast iron skillets, how to season the skillets and care/maintenance to keep my skillet going for years to come. I think it’s a good book and will get some great use from it. Glad I purchased it!
I really did love this cookbook! Special times and occasions call for special meals. That’s why this book was good for me! I’m always Hosting a party or having people over for a great time and gatherings. These are very quick recipes that could be put together in just minutes. One of the best things that I really like about this book is that it has multiple types of charts for anything you want to cook. Conversion Charts for measuring volume, weight and temperatures.This book has a little special things like free giveaways for various things as well. I just downloaded a free bonus that had different sheets of a marinade recipes that are printed out at home on my printer. That makes it very easy for me to pull these out anytime I need them to cook with. What made this book very useful and valuable to me was the fact that it told me things I did not know about cast-iron skillet. Such as how to season the skillet, the proper way to clean it and further caring storage and maintenance.Thank you A. J. Luigi, I’ve already made and written down five new recipes of my own in the cast-iron skillet recipe creation and notes section you put on the last page of the book. Don’t worry, I’ll be coming up with more of my own! :)
The book is very informative if you can get past all of the typos. The typos are irritating to me. I guess that is the teacher in me. This book is a great resource for a cast iron newbie. I can’t wait to try some of the recipes.
