I am not a native Spanish speaker but struggled through this book, English-Spanish dictionary a mi lado. This journalist/author is an incredible woman who risked her own life and career in Mexico (one of the most dangerous countries in the world to be a journalist) to expose a child sex and pornography ring operated by and protected by the rich and powerful of Quintana Roo. It's an amazing story which should have been told all over the North American media and made into a feature film. HUman trafficking and the exploitation of children is sex trade is an enormous problem affecting over a million kids every year. It happens in the shadows, so it's easy for us to turn the channel and pretend it doesn't affect us. But it is a form of genocide. God bless the people who are dedicating their lives and careers to fighting against it. Lydia Cacho is my new hero.
